This old classic casino slot by IGT is just one big pun around the expression stinking rich. And just as the expression can be seen as a juxtaposition of two contrasting ideas (smelling bad is undesirable, and wealth is a desirable attribute, no matter how many cries of “capitalism is evil” lefties raise to the heavens), this video slot’s design relies on contrasting imagery.
On one hand, you have as “protagonists” a male skunk and his, we presume, female significant other. Along them we have as reel symbols a number of stinky items, like rotting eggs, old cheese, smelly shoes, and fish gone bad.
On the other hand, we have a wealthy family of four, decked to the nines in opulent dress and surrounded by symbols of their wealth. The artwork of this game definitely shows its age, since this is a remaster of an old game. However, it has aged well, since the designs look old, but not quite dated.
IGT is one of the giants of the worldwide casino industry. Notice how I wrote “worldwide” and not “online”, that’s because IGT has its roots as a provider of physical casino supplies, such as gaming cabinets. By 2011, around half of all slot machines in US casinos were made by IGT.
They have expanded beyond the physical casino business, evidently, and with great success. Tapping into the rich vein of online casinos was a logical step for any tech-oriented gambling business back in the nineties, and IGT certainly got on the train on time.
Stinkin’ Rich has a slightly modified 5×5 set of reels, with a truncated middle reel. Reel 3, the middle one, has only three windows instead of the five that the others have.
This game has a very large number of pay lines, one hundred (100) of them. This is highly unusual, since most games tend to fall somewhere between 20 and 60 pay lines.
This is not counting the “ways to win” type games, which do not have real pay lines in the first place. Anyhow, betting on all of Stinkin’ Rich’s 100 pay lines can syphon your funds away real quick, even on the min bet. This is just something to keep in mind, evidently.
All of Stinkin’ Rich’s controls are placed along the bottom of the screen. There’s nothing unusual here, just the typical setting for line bet, number of lines you’re betting on, and spin and auto play buttons.

This game’s most noteworthy feature is its Trash for Cash bonus. This feature is activated by landing three Trash for Cash symbols anywhere on the reels, even if they’re not along a pay line. This Bonus will multiply your wins by 4x, 5x, or 6x. It is simple, straightforward, and very good.
Stinkin’ Rich does have a very curious thing about it, and that is the fact that its scatter symbols do not trigger the free spin rounds in this game, unlike the majority of other video slots out there. Landing 3 or more scatters just pays up a cash reward, like any other winning combination.
Free spin rounds are activated instead by landing 3 Keys to Riches symbols. They will give you 5 free spins per pay line triggered by their combination. With one hundred pay lines, expect to have plenty of free spins every time you trigger this.
Five rich ladies in a row pay up 10.000 credits per triggered pay line. RTP value is between 92,52% and 96,23%.
Stinkin’ Rich is a classic game, and it shows it. It does not have fancy 3D designs or flashy animations, but it does deliver a great game experience. Its 100 pay lines make it a great game for the risk takers out there. A great game all round.
